Our 24 Hours of Lemons race adventure, in pictures and video
As you may have heard, some fellow nerds and I went and bought an old beater of a car, prepped it for racing, and had a grand old time at a 24 Hours of Lemons race. In true Lemons tradition, the DC-area race has an awesome name: Capitol Offense. Drew has a nice summary of why one might do such a thing, if you’re not clear. Our team theme was Cobra Kai. Our car was a ’94 Volvo 940 wagon.
Fun was had by all. And I even got in a minor wreck and cracked up the car a bit. Here are a bunch of pictures, and a video of some of the mishaps, including my little crash toward the end. I highly recommend the whole Lemons thing to anyone and everyone.
Some video highlights:
Some pics too (see all of them in my Flickr set):
Its a ‘race wagon, yo:
But it held its own (battling a Lancia no less):

Our camp was first rate:
And yeah its legally registered:
Our hood is sweet:
We removed a few excess parts during the weekend:
Yes, venting noxious gasses to the atmosphere was required:
Yes, this is a smoker (you know, for dinner):
I loved this car (though they never got it race-ready in time):
And this was my personal favorite — fast and light:
You know you have to have costumes, right? Humiliating but true:
More pics on my Flickr… Now get out there and race.
